Why Is the Cat Unsteady When Walking? What Are the Reasons?
Newborn kittens have very soft legs; they cannot stand or walk right away. Generally, as the cat grows, it can walk steadily around 45 days old. However, some adult cats still cannot walk steadily due to certain factors. So what causes this? Why can't cats walk steadily?
There are many reasons why a cat might walk unsteadily. For example, poor development in the cat itself, such as calcium deficiency leading to bone development issues, can cause cats to walk unsteadily as they grow. Sometimes, impacts or injuries can cause fractures; if the treatment and recovery are not good, the cat may not be able to walk steadily afterward.
The unsteady walking of a cat is quite obvious and easy to observe in daily life. If the owner notices the cat walking shakily, they should be alert to possible leg problems. One can first hold the cat and examine its four limbs for obvious external injuries. Also, feel the cat’s limbs to check for bone injuries. If there are no clear signs of injury, the owner should still take the cat to a pet hospital for a detailed examination. Then, under the guidance of a veterinarian, conduct a scientific diagnosis and treatment so that the cat can recover its health as soon as possible.
