What to Do if Cats Disturb Neighbors at Midnight
Persian Cat
Here are a few methods to correct this bad habit of your cat:
1. Prepare a warm and comfortable bed for the cat in a place far from the bedroom.
2. Close the bedroom door when sleeping to prevent the cat from running in and out.
3. Keep the cat awake during the day or increase daytime activity. You can play games with the cat, place a cat tower by the window so the cat can jump up and look outside. Change toys every few days to keep the cat’s interest and prevent boredom.
4. Play with the cat before bedtime.
5. Do not feed the cat in the morning, as it calls you early because it’s feeding time. Food should be given in small portions multiple times a day. If no one is home during the day, consider a timed automatic feeder or hiding food in anti-depression toys. You can also hide small snacks throughout the room, and feed the main meal (the day’s largest portion) before bedtime.
6. When the cat starts playing at night, make a noise to scare it. After repeated times, this can help correct its behavior, but make sure the cat doesn’t realize that the scary sound is made by you.
7. Completely ignore its nighttime behavior. Even if it disturbs and tries to wake you, resist responding. But once you start ignoring it, be consistent; giving in halfway makes the cat think persistence will achieve its goal. (Source:PetsZone)
