　　It is no longer uncommon for families to keep two or more cats. The advantage is that it reduces the cats’ loneliness; even if the owner is not often at home, the cats feel much better because they have playmates. However, the biggest concern is that two cats may fight frequently over small things, and such fights inevitably lead to injuries. Therefore, understanding how to help them live together peacefully is necessary.

　　If two cats always fight, thinking about separating them to keep them apart is not the correct approach. What we need to do is how to let the two cats develop goodwill towards each other and become friends.

　　1. First, stimulate the cats’ desire for food. Do not leave food out for them to eat anytime; feeding must be done at regular intervals (fixed periods, not fixed times). Reduce the total amount of food by at least 20-30%, which will increase their desire for food. The missing 20-30% can be supplemented through snacks.

　　2. Initially have the two cats avoid meeting each other. In the home, set activity areas and ensure there is a barrier between the two cats to prevent interaction and fighting. You must adjust this setup according to your home environment.

　　3. During each meal, feed the two cats within sight of each other but at a distance that does not trigger fighting. Place food for both cats at the same time and remove the food and bowls simultaneously. This way, while eating, the cats can see and smell each other’s presence. Doing this gradually will help the cats associate each other with food.
