Training Cats to Follow Scratching Rules
Persian Cat
Scratching is a cat's natural habit, so it is impossible to stop it from scratching. For a small cat, its claws are its most powerful weapons, so it must regularly scratch off the old keratin to keep them extremely sharp.
In addition, scratching is also to show its dominance and add scent. There are scent glands inside a cat's front paws, so scratching also allows its paws to carry its own scent.
Nevertheless, if allowed to scratch anywhere freely, sofas, curtains, chairs, carpets, wood floors, and walls will become ruined and it is very terrible. Moreover, once a cat determines a scratching spot, it will repeatedly go there to scratch, which makes the damage even more severe.
Training cats on scratching is the most difficult part of cat education. Therefore, this training should start early before the furniture is damaged.
