Training Cats to Develop the Habit of Not Jumping on the Bed
Ragdoll Cat
Pet cats sometimes disobey and won’t quietly sleep in their cat beds. They like to jump up and down on their owner's bed, crawl into the owner's quilt, wanting to sleep together with the owner. For this kind of behavior, the owner should immediately stop it and train the cat to develop the good habit of sleeping independently in its own cat bed, avoiding jumping up and down on the bed.
First, to stop the cat from jumping on the owner's bed, the owner should prepare a warm and comfortable cat bed where the cat can rest comfortably, which will also reduce its desire to jump on the owner's bed.
Second, when the cat jumps on the bed, the owner should appropriately scold the cat to let it know that jumping on the bed is wrong. Or pat the cat’s bottom and drive it off the bed. After repeating this multiple times, the cat will stop jumping on the bed.
Finally, if the cat has already developed the habit of sleeping with the owner, it is difficult to break this behavior in a short time. The owner should adopt a more severe method, such as a water spray bottle. When the cat jumps on the bed, the owner can spray water at it. After many lessons, the bed becomes something the cat dislikes and naturally will stop jumping on the bed.
Causing the cat to form a negative conditioned reflex to the bed is the best way to prevent the cat from jumping on the bed. The cat not sleeping on the bed also ensures the owner’s health and saves the trouble of cleaning the bed. (Source:PetsZone)
