Training Cats to Become Confident Pets

Training cats to build confidence is a long and progressive process. It is best to start training them to be confident from a young age during their growth.
First, let the cat further recognize the surrounding world so it can judge and trust the people and things around it; do not stop it from exploring the new and curious world around it.
Second, caretakers should often take the cat outside during free time to encounter various things and broaden its horizons. However, during the initial outings, just let it roam near the door; do not expose it to too many people, and especially avoid going to the vet, as this may cause the cat to associate fear and tension with the carrier and develop resistance.
Third, at home, do not force the pet cat to quickly face strangers. But the caretaker can try to bring the cat out to meet strangers. When holding the cat, the owner’s movements should be gentle, and continuous stroking should be used to soothe the cat’s emotions. Meanwhile, guests should remain quiet and avoid loud or sudden movements and noises to prevent scaring the pet cat.
Fourth, when the cat can gradually stay longer near people, the caretaker can reward it with treats. This allows the pet cat to feel a sense of achievement and build confidence in front of strangers.
Fifth, training the pet cat to be confident mainly involves strengthening the cat’s psychological resilience. In daily life, caretakers can often interact and play games with the cat. Such interactive games can quickly narrow the gap between strangers and the cat, and maybe soon they can become friends, thus training the cat’s confidence in front of strangers.
A pet cat with strong confidence indicates it has a healthy mental state. Therefore, during the process of raising a pet cat, attention should be paid to cultivating and training its psychological quality. Only by giving the pet cat a healthy mind can it live harmoniously with the family. (Source:PetsZone)
