1. The most common way to show affection is by wrapping their tail around you, touching your leg with their head or body, or rubbing you with the back of their ears or face. This is to leave a familiar scent on you, making them feel more comfortable, and possibly treating you as their subordinate.
2. Licking you, just like licking other , indicates trust and affection.
3. After being petted by a person, they lick themselves to "taste" the person's scent. This scent is something we cannot smell but cats can detect.
4. When a cat lies on your lap, it definitely likes you; it won't jump onto the laps of people it doesn't like.

6. A cat's tail held straight up indicates very strong affection. You'll notice when a cat approaches unfamiliar people or cats, their tail hangs down.
