Several Ways to Reduce Cats' Damage to the Home
Although raising cats is cute and entertaining, it must be painful whenever you see your home torn apart by your cats! So what should we do when facing these problems?
1. Cats dislike sudden scares, such as water sprays, loud claps, or other unexpected noises, like the sound of a thick book dropping to the floor. You can use these sounds to stop your cat from doing things you don’t want them to do. However, the noise must happen simultaneously with the cat "doing something bad" so they associate the unpleasant sound with their current action.
2. When a cat does something wrong, push the cat's face with your palm, then loudly say “No” with a very stern voice. The tone of this voice should be completely different from the tone you use when petting or playing with them.
3. Actually, the most important principle is the so-called “baby principle.” Cats, like babies, have little behavioral control. When you have a cat, you can imagine having a crawling baby in your home who can’t control themselves, then put all dangerous items out of their reach. Put fragile things in cabinets, put food where they can’t reach, and replace your trash cans with pedal-operated lids like those in hospitals.
In short, if you can teach your cat the right way and approach their behavior with the correct mindset, they will not bring trouble to your home but will become your best companion during happy or sad times!
