Seven Methods to Correct Cats Disturbing at Night
Here are several methods to correct your cat’s bad habit:
1. Prepare a warm and comfortable bed for the cat far from the bedroom.
2. Close the bedroom door while sleeping to prevent the cat from running in and out.
3. Keep the cat awake during the day or increase daytime activity. You can play games with the cat, place a cat tower by the window so the cat can jump up and watch the outside scenery. Toys should be rotated every few days to maintain its freshness and prevent boredom.
4. Play with the cat before bedtime.
5. Do not feed the cat in the morning because it wakes you up early to eat at its feeding time. Feed small amounts multiple times a day. If no one is home during the day, consider a timed automatic feeder or hiding food in anti-anxiety toys, also hide small treats around the house, then feed the cat the main meal before sleep (which should be the largest meal of the day).
6. When the cat starts to play at night, make a sudden noise to startle it. After repeating several times, this can correct its behavior, but make sure the cat does not discover the source of the noise is you.
7. Completely ignore its nighttime behavior. If it insists on waking you up, endure it without responding. But once you start ignoring, you must persist; giving up halfway will only make the cat feel that persistence leads to results. (Source:PetsZone)
