Clever Treatment of Cat Constipation

Birman Cat
Cat intestinal constipation, also known as fecal impaction, is a digestive system disease caused by intestinal motility disorders and secretion imbalance. The intestinal contents stagnate and dry, resulting in partial or complete blockage of the intestines. This disease often occurs in the colon and rectum of cats, especially common in kittens, senior cats, and long-haired cats.
The longer the constipation persists, the more difficult it is to treat. In severe cases, it can cause self-toxification or secondary diseases, worsening the condition. The causes of this disease include the following three factors:
1. Feeding management: Factors such as long-term feeding of dry food, lack of drinking water, ingestion of hair and foreign objects, insufficient exercise, and sudden changes in diet, environment, and management may induce this disease.
2. Diseases: Painful defecation diseases (such as rectal polyps, rectitis, rectal stenosis, tumors, anal abscesses, etc.) lead to constipation due to the disappearance of normal defecation urges.
3. Internal factors: Diseases that cause defecation movement disorders (such as spinal joint dislocation, pelvic fractures, and hind leg fractures) can all cause constipation.
