Surefire trick to get pet cats to take medicine

Fold-ear Cat

  Nocturnal behavior is the nature

Cats are lively at night because they spend much of the day sleeping. On average, cats sleep 13-18 hours a day, with old and young cats sometimes sleeping more than 20 hours. This is related to their lifestyle habits. Solo cats have to rely on themselves to catch prey in the wild, often going several days without food, so one meal can last them several days.

If cats kept moving around without food, they probably would be too weak to hunt by the next meal. So cats choose to sleep for long periods to conserve energy for the deadly strike. have no worries about food or clothing, and their energy has no outlet, so they only can run around at night. Therefore, cats being active at night is purely instinctual, and owners should never punish them for this as it will only make things worse.

Owners who let cats freely enter and exit the house never get disturbed at night because the cats can exercise outside and fulfill their hunting instincts. However, most cats stay indoors, so it takes effort to adjust their biological clock.

  More play, less sleep

To help sleep soundly at night, the most important thing is to use up their energy before bedtime. Playing with them for a while before the owner sleeps is very effective. It’s best to use moving toys to let cats indulge their hunting instincts.

If while playing, the cat lowers its body, eyes wide open with pupils dilated, claws lightly scratching to grip the surface, and jumps to pounce on the toy at the right moment, the play session is effective. Repeat this several times and the cat will be satisfied and ready to sleep. Also, having and cat trees at home helps cats exercise more when the owner is away and sleep better at night.

Besides playing with cats at night, owners need to be "stern" during the day, especially in the afternoon, by disturbing cats whenever they start dozing off. In short, don’t let them nap deeply so they won’t have energy to be lively at night. Whether playing at night or preventing daytime naps, consistency is key. Within a few days to one or two weeks, you can adjust a cat’s biological clock. However, the above methods are not as effective when cats are in heat, which usually requires spaying or neutering.

In addition, some things can make cats more energetic at night, which should be avoided. For example, feeding cats at night makes it harder for them to fall asleep; and punishing cats when they make noise and go out will teach them that misbehaving gets attention, leading to worse behavior.
