  Dealing with Poisoning

  Cats usually vomit after swallowing toxic substances, but sometimes they digest the poison. If your cat shows signs of poisoning, immediate measures should be taken (see the table below). If the cat’s fur is contaminated with toxins, it will try to lick it off, resulting in ingestion of the poison. At this time, dilute shampoo should be used to wash the toxic substance from the fur. If this does not work, take the cat along with a sample of the toxin to the veterinarian, and do not try to induce vomiting.
